Tarifa once again proved why it’s the Spanish capital of wind sports. Valdevaqueros Beach witnessed this September the Spanish Kiteboarding Championship and the Spanish Wingfoil Cup — two events that brought together the best riders in the country and delivered unforgettable performances, thanks to the strong Levante wind that blew steadily from early morning until the end of the finals.
A showcase for the next generation
In categories like U14 and U16, we saw young talents such as Sam Rossmeier, winner in Wingfoil U14, and Gonzalo Capela, champion in Kiteboarding U14, establish themselves as riders to watch. The progress in technique, focus, and ability to perform under pressure was highly remarkable.
In the women’s categories, names like Sofía Gizinger (Wingfoil), Paula Bonet (Kite Strapless), and Claudia León (Kite Freestyle) claimed the titles. These achievements highlight the strong growth of women in disciplines traditionally dominated by men.

Debut of new senior champions and style
In the senior Kiteboarding Freestyle category, Rafa Montero was crowned overall champion, showcasing great technical mastery and style in every heat. In senior Strapless, Noah Nicolas stood out with his unique style, delighting the attending audience.
The championship not only offered a sporting spectacle but also demonstrated that consistency, training, and passion for these sports continue to bear fruit on the national scene.
Tarifa, epicenter of wind and excitement
Valdevaqueros offered magnificent conditions: strong and steady Levante winds, a well-equipped beach, and an organization that took care of every detail —from the qualifying heats to the finals, including participant logistics— with institutional and local support.
At Rebels Kiteschool Tarifa, we are proud to see our community grow, our local riders take the leap, and Tarifa maintain its reputation as a must-visit destination for kiteboarding and wingfoil training.
Looking forward
This event marks a turning point: young riders are coming strong, women are gaining more prominence, and the quality of freestyle—both in wingfoil and kiteboarding—improves year after year.
If you haven’t experienced it yet, we invite you to join Rebels Kiteschool Tarifa: lessons, experiences, and training in an unmatched environment. Here, you don’t just learn—you live the spirit of the wind in freedom.
