The Triumphant Return of Pippa van Iersel

For Pippa van Iersel, this victory was especially significant, as she had been out of competition for two years due to injury. Pippa shared how, during her recovery, she only dreamed of getting back into competition, and finally, her dream came true. “When I was injured, all I wanted was to return to competition and be on top of the podium,” she said. And that’s exactly what she did! She took the win with a strong performance, scoring 8.77 for a spectacular Kite-loop Back-roll. This victory not only gave her the top spot but also her third Lords of Tram title.

Jamie Overbeek: An Emerging Star

On the other hand, Jamie Overbeek, the 18-year-old Dutch athlete, also had a phenomenal performance. On his way to victory, he beat the current Big Air world champion and other high-level competitors. With astonishing tricks, like a 9.53 for an impressive move and a 9.07 to close out his victory, Jamie took his first world title. The young kiteboarder couldn’t have been happier, saying, “I’m so excited that I can’t even explain it. I trained hard all year for this competition, and this win will give me even more motivation to keep pushing.”

Intense Competition in the Men’s Category

In the men’s category, the competition was fierce. In the semifinals, we saw names like Josué “Baby Shark” San from Brazil, Edgar Ulrich from France, Jeremy Burlando from Spain, and Lorenzo Casati from Spain. Each of them gave their best in the water, but it was Jamie Overbeek who took the crown, with Jeremy Burlando in second place and Edgar Ulrich in third.

Standout Performances in the Women’s Category

In the women’s category, there were impressive performances from Zara Hoogenraad from the Netherlands, who pulled off one of the biggest double Kite-loops in competition, and Nathalie Lambrecht from Sweden, who scored an impressive 9.10 for a Kite-loop Board-off. Despite their efforts, Pippa van Iersel took first place, with Lambrecht in second place and Hoogenraad in third.

Looking Forward to the Next Round in Gran Canaria

It was an event filled with excitement, some surprising results, and spectacular performances. Now, we’re all looking forward to the next round in Gran Canaria, Spain, in July. Don’t miss it! Until then, keep enjoying kiteboarding, and see you in the water!
